the engine room project is a Sydney based collective of experienced filmmakers who want to hone our craft, learn and perfect technique, play with form and shoot because it’s what we love to do.
Our goal is to make high quality, no to low budget short films that engage, excite and interest the audience.
The following principles keep us on the straight and narrow ensuring that we don’t over complicate our approach:
- No to low budgets
- Minimise the number of locations
- Film on locations
- Maximum of 2 days shooting
- Minimise number of cast and crew
- Only use what is essential to the story
Far from being prohibitive, these principles exist to encourage us to be creative, flexible and nimble as well as increasing our productivity.
We believe that by adhering to these principles, utilising our combined resources and working within our means enables us to produce interesting projects without sacrificing production values.
We are always keen to hear from potential collaborators to widen our community and are looking for experienced, hungry, like-minded, proactive and talented peoples to work with.
